to raise awareness about Breast Cancer.

breast cancer continues to be the most
common
cancer diagnosis in Canadian women
over the age of 20 – with 1 in 4 cancer
diagnoses being breast cancer.
It is the
second leading cause of cancer deaths in
Canadian women,
after lung cancer.
Fewer
Canadian women are dying from breast cancer
today
than in the past.
Breast
cancer deaths have decreased by 42 percent
since the
peak in 1986 due to earlier detection through
regular mammography screening, advances in
screening
technology,
and improved treatments.
One in 9
Canadian women is expected to develop breast
cancer during
her lifetime (by the age of 90).

Canadian women will die from breast cancer.

Vacation and Savings For You
I've just finished a wonderful week of vacation
travelling in Quebec.
It is such a beautiful province with
marvelous scenery.
We walked the cobblestone streets of "Old Quebec"
and travelled up the northern coast of the St Lawrence river.
The scenery was gorgeous with the majestic mountains
on one side and seaway on the other.
It was breathtaking!
I actually saw a whale from the car while we driving
along the highway and if any of you know me,
you know how much I love whales!
We took a whale watching cruise from
Baie-Ste-Catherine and
I saw beluga whales in their natural environment.
We also saw minke whales and fin whales in
the Saint Lawrence river.
We spent an afternoon
shopping the quaint boutiques and visiting the
art galleries of Rue Ste Jean Baptiste in
Baie-Ste-Paul.
I am starting my second week of holidays
which will be more of a relaxing week.
I'm hoping to spend a few days with my daughter Karly
and my granddaughter Chloe.

Making Limeade from Limes or Turtle Soup from Turtle Jasper
These turtle jasper beads
were sent to me in error in
one of my bead orders.
To be honest, I thought they were ugly
when I first saw them,
but I decided to keep them anyway
and see if I could transform them
into something beautiful.

The Finished Product...
This set has been "in the works"
for a bit longer than usual
but is now completed
and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results.
This necklace and earring set
is fashioned with Crystal Copper Swarovski crystals
in the rondelle shapes and the cubist shapes
as well as round Swarovski Montana sapphire crystals.
Each crystal bead is flanked by sterling silver beads
and each bead station is individually wire wrapped and
connected to each other with sterling silver wire.
Short segments of sterling silver chain were
also incorporated to add detail to this stunning necklace.
Earrings were made with similar shaped Swarovski crystals
in the same color palette using smaller beads
and sterling silver chain, all
suspended from sterling silver lever back ear wires.
This substantial necklace measures approximately
37 1/2 inches in length and can be worn as a single strand
or doubled up to keep the focus up towards the face.
It lends itself to more dressy occasions
and will surely be a topic of conversation!
