Swarovski Edelweiss

These earrings are a tribute to one of my favourite movies...
The Sound of Music
One of my favourite parts of the movie is when
Christopher Plummer aka Captain Von Trapp
sings the song "Edelweiss"

These earrings feature the beautiful, new
Swarovski Edelweiss Partly Frosted AB Crystal Pendants

These earrings are available for purchase here:
Swarovski Edelweiss Earrings

It's Margarita Time

One of this Springs' Pantone Colors is called 'Margarita'.

'Margarita' is a light refreshing shade of green.

I have made this pair of earrings

in a similar light, refreshing and cool shade of green.

I designed these earrings using Swarovski crystal channel drops in light green and

and incorporated matching light green Swarovski round crystals at the base.

I have tied the crystals together in the center with

3 dimensional sterling silver roses.

C shaped sterling silver ear wires complete the light, airy vibe of these

elegant earrings which would be a fresh addition

to any Springtime wardrobe.

In Case You Were Wondering...

In case you were wondering, where I've been and
what I've been up to....

I just wanted to let you know that I'm still here...
I've been working on improving my shop photos,
tweaking my item descriptions and tags
and working on some new projects for the Spring...

This picture is a sneak peek at a piece I am working on...
This color is similar to one of the Pantone Spring 2012 colors
The color is called Solar Power
and it's a bright sunny yellow.
It's making me think I can almost see Spring right around the corner!

Trying Something New...

For those of you who have wondered

where I have been these past few weeks

Here's what I've been up to...

I've been designing and making

new displays to hold my earrings

at my upcoming Artisan Shows

I have taken some inexpensive photo frames

and adapted them to hold my earrings

I have made each one of them with different color themes

and I have made one specifically for my Cancer Awareness Jewelry

I am in the process of making one specifically for

earrings that I have started to design for the younger girls

***

I have also designed and made

new packaging for my earrings

When I sell a pair of earrings at BeadedEmbellishments on Etsy

I place the earrings on these hang cards

and I attach the PVC safety clutch backings to the earrings

then I place them in a small ziplok bag

along with a 3M AntiTarnish strip for sterling silver

I include my business card

I then wrap them in a foam padding for protection

and wrap them in tissue paper and ribbon

I wrap each one differently

(it's part of the fun!)

The package then goes into a padded bubble envelope

and it's mailed off to it's new owner!

My Do It Yourself Lightbox That Love Made

I have been trying to improve my product photography

but since I don't get very good light in my craft room

I decided to try using a light box to see if that would help my photos.

I asked my husband if he would help me

to make a Do It Yourself light box out of a cardboard box.

I went online and researched some sites to find out

how we should go about making one.

My husband didn't think that a cardboard box would hold up well so,

he said he would build me one out of materials we had in our garage,

and when he was finished he would help me shop for some lights.

(Bless his heart!)

Here is "The Making of My Light Box" in a series of pictures...

A Labour of Love

~ From  the humble beginnings ~

~ To the tweaking of the details ~

~To the finished product ~

I am so grateful for such a wonderful, supportive husband!

"Thank you, Max"

I still need to work on improving my photos

by learning how to use the different camera settings and

also learning how to edit in Photoshop Elements 6.0.

I have learned so much but continue to keep on learning

since I have started my Etsy shop, BeadedEmbellishments.

More Glimpses of Northern Ontario

Here are some more pics

of my favourite parts of this vacation

 and a couple of videos

Waterlily
I think waterlilies are so beautiful
(I had to walk through pretty yucky stuff in my bare feet to get this pic)

Loon
(I was watching this Loon from the dock in the morning)

I love loons and I love hearing their very distinct calls.

I am always thrilled when I get to observe them in nature.

I have been told that loons have a vocabulary of greater than 100 sounds.

My husband and I decided to go for a canoe ride

so we could perhaps get a closer look at them.

Sights and sounds from our canoe ride
