October ~ Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Giveaway

Each year, in October I write a blog post

to raise awareness about Breast Cancer.

The following statistics were taken from the

Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation website.

In 2013, breast cancer continues to be the most

common cancer diagnosis in Canadian women

 over the age of 20 – with 1 in 4 cancer

 diagnoses being breast cancer.

It is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in

Canadian women, after lung cancer.

Fewer Canadian women are dying from breast cancer

today than in the past.

Breast cancer deaths have decreased by 42 percent

since the peak in 1986 due to earlier detection through

 regular mammography screening, advances in screening

technology, and improved treatments.

One in 9 Canadian women is expected to develop breast 

cancer during her lifetime (by the age of 90).

One in 29 Canadian women will die from breast cancer.

This article provides information about breast health

and instructs on how to do a proper breast self exam

Please familiarize yourselves with your breasts and learn 

to properly examine your breasts. 

You owe it to yourself to take the 

best care of yourself

I urge you to examine your breasts

on a regular basis and have your mammograms and

other diagnostic tests as prescribed by your

health care provider as early detection
